Then I thought of the chop shop in sagadia sahi. Well be assured this chop shop is nowhere related to Infosys. It is a simple tiffin shop that caters different types of  chops like egg-chop, mutton-chop, liver-chop, chicken-chop and chams.

Egg-chops cost 1 rupee each and Chams cost 10 rupees each. Whereas other chops cost 2 rupees each. Well That is definitely a deal. For those of you who do not know what a cham is, I can not help much. But to give you an idea, it is portion of goat containing the a spine from the spinal cord and a rib. The mutton amount is very less, but eating eat seems as if one is eating leg piece of chicken.

But even after eating a total of 25 rupees my eating spree has not ended. So I went to Brindaban Cinema Hall in Dolamundai , Cuttack. In front of which there are the fast food stalls.

In here the real story of Gupchup and Mineral Water unfold. Gupchup as you might be knowing is the Oriya/odia of Golguppa. Golguppa/Gupchup is very tasty, but the hygiene is almost non existent. While I was unmounting from my Boxer Motorcycle I noticed 2 young girls at the Gupchup stall. The slimmer girl asked the stall owner, if he knows where she can find a mineral water bottle. The stall owner showed a shop across the street. Then the girl asked if he could send somebody to get either a Bisleri or a Bubbles. The assistant of the boy obliged. In the meanwhile both the girls ate some 10-15 gupchups. I joined in and devoured 20 gupchups. After eating the gupchups the said girl drank from the Aqua Pura (I never knew such a brand existed) that the boy brought. Her friend was satisfied with the water the stall owner had.

Though I could not ask out of general decency still this incidence is a reminder how people can be unpredictable. I admit I do not have any problem in eating unhealthy, unhygienic food, but why people drink packaged water when they are eating contaminated water containing food simply beats me.

The Acknowledgement Card ends the debate that was going around if the Ad-hoc postings by the state govt. was the same or different from that of this OPSC examinations. These Cards  prove that Ad-hoc postings are separate from the regular OPSC postings. But be aware that this does not mean that your application is OK. I mean after the roll numbers are assigned OPSC generally then  issues the list of rejected applications.

On 6th August 2010. I along with Dr Debashis Panda went to OPSC office at Cantonment Road, Cuttack and enquired about the Ad-hoc postings. The person at the counter said that they do not have any idea about the Ad-hoc postings and they are going to post the Acknowledgement cards from 7th August onwards. By the way the last date for application in Ad-hoc category is 10th August 2010. So if you want to get the job first and then become regular by the OPSC exam then better be hurry.

The procedure will be to vaccinate human beings once. From this I guess the immunity that will develop in humans will not directly save the people
from malaria, but will infect the mosquitoes instead and thereby render mosquitoes’ internal environment not suitable for parasite propagation.

This possible mechanism of the vaccine is just my conjecture from different news articles. But anyways I am happy that people (like Kali
Prasad Patra) are working for the people who need it the most (As for centuries malaria has been a great problem for people of India and
Orissa in particular) rather than any European or American Peter J. Weina doing the job for Asian people.

If the above paragraph sounds racial then pardon me of wrong communication and pardon yourself of selective reading. My concern has

been the importance of participation in research oriented fields by indigenous people. Some time ago I made a post where an American pharmacologist gave us (doctors in India) some insight about malaria treatment. I have no problem if an American doctor is my teacher. My problem is that we Indians are lagging behind in research.
So when I find news like this it makes me very happy that we are also contributing towards the medical knowledge it makes me a lot happy
and proud.

Kali Prasad Patra completed his degree from Vikram Dev College, Jeypore and Post Graduation from Berehmpur University. Then he did his Ph.D from Pondicherry University. In 1987 he joined Vector Control Research Centre (VCRC) as a research assistant at Koraput and Malkangiri districts. Then he went to Pondicherry and USA in 2005 where he completed his 2 year post-doctoral training on malaria vaccine at University of Texas. Now he got BMGF funding.

At last I have the license to heal (practice) anywhere in India. Today I got my Permanent Registration Number 17002/2009 dated 9 November 2009. I need not apply to MCI separately. I can practice in all over India as an MBBS.

Let me describe the incident. Today i.e. on 12^th November I went OCMR office near Pump House Square, BBSR. I went via Barang. Just after crossing Jayadev Vihar Square it rained. I managed to get to the OCMR Office. Got the license for which I have applied after my completion of internship on 28^th October 2009. Actually it was due on 23^rd of October 2009. But due to DMET, Dr PK Das’s orders we had to repeat 5days of duty as earlier this year we had gone on a strike to increase our stipend from a meager Rs5000 ($100) to Rs8640 ($175) per month.

Well then I went to I.M.S. & SUM Hospital to apply for the post of Junior Resident / Tutor. From there I returned via RasulGarh.

So that is how I became a Registered Medical Practitioner. My name is in the IMR (Indian Medical Register). But it is getting updated so you can not find my name in there. But from 1960 onwards one can find doctors from their name or registration number. Till now it has been updated up to 2007.

Hopefully when it updates 2009 we can see my name in the MCI Online database.
